1987 Cricket World Cup
Reliance World Cup; that was the official name of 1987 Cricket World Cup. Cricket World Cup 1987 was the first cup that was held outside England. Cricket World Cup 1987 was a great exposure for countries like India and Pakistan to host such a big sporting event. Cricket World Cup 1987 was the 4th world cup overall. Australia emerged as the champion in Cricket World Cup 1987. Australia defeated England by a mere 7 runs in the 1987 Cricket World Cup final to lift the Cricket World Cup 1987.
India at the 1992 World Cup
Held in Australia and New Zealand, the 1992 Cricket World Cup had a number of special additions. Not in the least was the inclusion of cricket heavyweight South Africa. It was also the first world cup to include coloured clothing. Another major addition was the fact that the cup was not divided into pools, and each team had a match against all the other teams. There were 9 teams competing in all. India had a considerably strong team, still bolstered by Kapil Dev and Mohammed Azharuddin. It also had rising star Sachin Tendulkar, who would later become the leading run-scorer in career world cups.
